What will happen if Mike Tyson bites Jake Paul’s ear off during their fight scheduled July 20 in Texas?
That question was posed to Paul on Fox News Wednesday night during an interview with Jesse Watters, who was alluding to Tyson biting Evander Holyfield’s ear during the infamous fight in 1997.
Said Paul, “He can’t bite my ear off if I knock his teeth out.’’
The answer elicited a chuckle from Watters during the interview in which Paul, 27, also explained why he is predicting a victory over Tyson, who will be 58 at the time of the proposed fight. It is set to be held at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, and to be streamed live by Netflix.
“Man, I think he’s underestimating me,’’ Paul said of Tyson. “I truly ... I truly think that. And it’s a heavyweight fight, so, you know, he’s the bigger man.
“But I’m the faster man. He’s the much stronger man, but I’m fresh. He’s experienced. I’m smart but in the ring he may be smarter, so it’s a really interesting matchup.’’
It’s going to be tough, Paul said.
“He’s the bigger man so … he’s going to be getting inside,’’ Paul said. “I’m probably going to … gain weight for this fight.
“But I believe I have the faster feet and the faster hands. So I’m going to be working angles.’’
On revealing a piece of his game plan, Paul said, “I don’t mind. Mike can have the game plan. I’m still going to win. That’s how confident I am in my ability.’’
After the fight was announced in March, Tyson released training videos in which he displayed his signature power. When asked about the footage, Paul said, “yes, he looks like a beast. He’s a dog. He’s 'Iron' Mike Tyson.
“But I believe I have what it takes to beat him and I know this is the toughest test of my life and it’s an honor to be in there with Mike. But at the end of the day I’m going to be the one who gets my hand raised.’’
