CHICAGO (AP) — A massive fire broke out at a building supply warehouse on Chicago’s west side Tuesday evening, creating a massive plume of black smoke that was visible for blocks.
Chicago Fire Department officials posted on X just after 6:30 p.m. that firefighters had responded to the fire at the Commercial Pallet warehouse and discovered pallets in flames.
Footage from WMAQ-TV showed a plume of smoke billowing over the neighborhood.
The television station reported that the fire had forced commuter trains in the area to stop but there had been no reports of injuries. A message left for the fire department seeking more details wasn’t immediately returned.
